Setting up a webServer for Self hosting
We plan to have our own web server hosted in-house.
We will provide:
1. Hardware
2. Domain names
3. DNS routing
We need your help in:
1. Identifying all the software needed
2. Installing the software remotely. We will provide help where manual intervention is needed.
3. Installing application (s)
4. Security
5. Updates
6. Backups set up
7 Giving us operational training
8. Provide technical support as and when needed
Software / Application requirements:
1. Linux
2. PERL
3. PHP
4. MYSQL
5. CRON for scheduling jobs
6. WORDPRESS for blogging
7. Forum software
8. Ajax
9. Ruby On Rail
10. etc
CMS to change the look and feel of the server
Few modified scripts to administer the site
For system management, we understand that there are tools available like CPanel or similar. But they are expensive. If we can have a setup that is cheaper, we would prefer that as long as it can schedule jobs / handle cron jobs. However; if there is no good / practical work around, then we will reluctantly go with it.
